I wanted to let everyone know that I'm planning to lead the 2011 Frozen Toes ride. Like last year, we'll meet at Bethpage and ride a route along the country roads surrounding Westmoreland. I'm including links to maps for rides of two different lengths, 30 and 44 miles. I'm planning to lead the 44 mile route, but I haven't found anyone to lead the 30 mile option. If you're interested in leading the 30-miler, please let me know. Feel free to forward this to anyone else you feel would be interested in attending - the more the merrier.
Mark your new calendars. The ride will depart at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 1, 2011 from the Bethpage & Castalian Springs Utility District office located on Hwy 31E.

09/25/11 Bike Ride, 50 miles, Solider Ride 9:00AM From BATTLE GROUND ACADEMY
Soldier Ride to Benefit the Wounded Warriors Project
Start planning now for this ride. It's a little more expensive than most other rides, but goes to a great cause. Consider it a donation as opposed to a ride registration. Sign up now for $25 and raise an additional $150 for the ride. I have already signed up and paid.
.
.
Join me and the SUMNER RIDES Team on the Soldier Ride starting in the Franklin, TN area. Go to:
www.soldierride.org/nashville for information and to sign up. This for a great cause, so if you can't ride that day consider a donation through the web site.
This is an important event that brings together wounded veterans, cyclists, families, volunteers, and people from all over the greater Nashville area. All funds raised go to support the programs and services of Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors.

The first 8 miles (grand parade through downtown Franklin) - the Warriors will lead the way ...... then you pros can pull off and get going ! Not as long behind them as last year to encourage 'serious' cyclists !"

REVISED 05/08 Bike Ride, 43 Mi, Station Camp H.S. @ 8:00 and a 30 mi ride from my house @ 8:08
Forecast is for rain to be gone early Saturday morning. I rode most of the route today, Wednesday, and it is mostly clear and rideable. Just need to be aware of some trash or gravel in a couple spots, most of which you can easily ride around. MADE 2 REVISIONS TO AVOID PROBLEMS I FOUND ON THURSDAY.
30 mi route from my house is mostly the same, meeting up with the group at Neils Ln. and cutting off early near the end of the ride. If starting from the school and cutting off, it's 38 miles. I plan to do a more leisurely ride, for those of us that haven't been riding lately.
Bryan Kortness has 2 rides:
"I talked with David at the bike shop today and we were thinking about getting as many riders out of the Hendersonville area on Saturday for the safety of the bikers so I am putting on a ride out of White House. We will be meeting at the Smile Center on Hwy 31 in White House at 8:00 and we have 2 routes planned. The first is 59 miles and the second route is 43 miles. We would love it if your group could join us on this ride.
